The circular thatched roof is formed by natural cape reed tiles. the cape reed is harvested at maturity (an average age of 5 -7 years) encouraging the plant to re-grow which allows harvesting again and again. The reed is then expertly woven together in the form of a tile, this process not only produces an authentic roof but is also environmentally friendly.
The solid timber frame, flooring and seating, is constructed from Russian Pine, a durable redwood whose harsh natural environment produces a hardy timber, ideal for use in outdoor buildings. All timber is sourced from suppliers adopting responsible forestry practices and our supplier has successfully passed the accreditation programme of the Forestry Stewardship Council, which recognises and applauds excellence in responsible forest management, globally.
